TFM: women at the center of all ambitions
International Women's Day was celebrated in a different way at Tenke Fungurume Mining on Thursday, March 13 under the theme "Women at the heart of all ambitions". The women presented their work in their respective departments. This was done through exhibition stands and a discussion panel in the large auditorium of the staff residence camp. Various departments have set up exhibition stands. Thus, the multitude of guests present in the room were edified by the presentations made by the women. Among the guests, the communal authorities, including the gender officer of the commune of Fungurume, Marthe Mazimba. Also present were members of TFM's general management, including CEO John Woto.

The occasion being the thief, the president of the women's committee Irene Shimba focused her speech on advice as well as practical recommendations. These are likely to enable women to fully enjoy their rights. Surrounded by her collaborators, Irène Shimba looked back on the activities of the women's committee since its installation in July 2023. She encouraged them to take ownership of workplace safety practices and make them a culture. Because, she says, the industrial environment in which they evolve requires this awareness. And to make the national theme its own, the committee has made an original version of it. These include: "Equal opportunities, rights and power within TFM". Building with women In her remarks, Marthe Mazimba, the gender officer, insisted on the participation of women. "It is with women that we will build a stronger Congo. This credo was reiterated by the other speakers, such as the DGA John Woto. This encouraged the working woman of TFM to performance and quality. These conditions will undeniably make it more than indispensable in the construction of the nation and society, in particular. For his part, the director of human resources, Ivan Kalonda, was keen to "deconstruct gender prejudices". As a result, he clearly reminded us that "whatever the genre, we can succeed". This statement is translated into reality on a daily basis at TFM. With its subscription to ESG principles, the company has set up the Women's Committee. This initiative aims to demonstrate the company's commitment to respect gender equality. Also, that of promoting the development of women and the protection of their rights, offering them a framework for exchange on issues that concern them. And to ensure ideal conditions for them, TFM has developed systems to balance professional and family life. In addition, the HR Director hammered home: "Without women, there would be no TFM. Words that were greeted with warm ovations. Indeed, this discourse has met the deep aspirations of women. It is also considered "a source of inspiration for young people", he concluded.

Activities of the day In addition, to combine business with pleasure, a variety of activities has been organized. Among other things, it is a screening of women's testimonies and discussion panels. Also the participants were entitled to a visit of the exhibition stands. It is clear from the testimony that gender can in no way constitute a barrier to the performance of professional tasks or functions. Women encouraged their peers to break fear and persevere in the fight for excellence and equality. The panel discussion was an opportunity for the women to answer the many questions raised. These are in particular those relating to their working conditions and the very meaning of Women's Rights Day. Olga Kazadi, one of the panelists, a supervisor at the factory laboratory, insisted that "the woman should have the required competence and not be there just to fill in the gaps." The highlight was the visit to the stands. First of all, that of the factory laboratory, geo-mining, drilling and mining, and IT management. Then, the stands of the warehouses, car maintenance, medical service. Finally, the air and land transport stands, catering, housing, are some of the stands that exhibited. Brilliant explanations were given to the satisfaction of the guests, a demonstration of the participation of women in the emergence of a strong and resilient community.
